Greg Goodwin's Studio
There is nothing like the smell of linseed oil and mineral spirits as I start working on a new painting! I have more ideas in my head than I have time to paint right now. God willing, I will get them all out eventually.
I have recently published a book called "The Art of Drawing Airplanes" which you can buy on Amazon.
I am a researcher by profession. I live in central Florida with my bride of 20 years (where has the time gone!) and my two beautiful children. I am an avid reader of historical non-fiction, especially if there is an aerospace component to it.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit. I periodically update this site with new works, so check back every once in a while to see what I've been up to.
If you have any questions or requests for paintings, I would love to hear from you . Contact me at ggoodwinstudio@gmail.com.
Early Years
I've always loved to draw and paint. If I inherited a gene for this, it certainly came from my paternal grandmother. She taught me to work with pastels and to paint with oils. These two paintings of farmhouses were the first oil paintings I did with her.
My grandmother immigrated here from Germany before the onset of WWII. The German home below is something she painted from memory years later. She grew up in the small town of Holzhausen.
I was 13 when Star Wars was released, and it ignited my imagination more than anything ever had. All my paintings and drawings were of spaceships and galaxies far, far away. The painting below is an example. It was done in acrylics when I was about 15.
My father also inherited his mother's artistic talent. When I was in college, he took up bird carving and soon began producing masterful carvings like the Barred Owl below.
My wife and I and our children awaiting the launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis in 2011. This was the final mission of the space shuttle program (STS-135).
